Gourmet Mom on the Go shared a 10 minute doughnut recipe using refrigerated biscuits. I don't typically use refrigerated biscuits, so I just made some of my own biscuits and then followed her directions.
They were a bit much. You know that feeling when you eat a bunch of funnel cake all by yourself just because you only get it once a year? That's how these sat in my belly because I ate too much. M, age three, helped me prepare the biscuit dough and cut them out. Frying the doughnuts is an all grown up job though. I did need a lot more oil than the recipe called for, but my pan may have been large. I used the largest and smallest cutters from my biscuit cutter set.
Were they great? No. Would I make them again on a rainy or snowy day to entertain the children? Sure, and the best part is that with no eggs in the biscuits, you can share the batter (without guilt) with the children instead of just sneaking it yourself!

I think that would be my assessment when I tried biscuit donuts - fun, but not something I'm going to make every day! They do look awfully yummy in the photo...
Jeff gave me a hard time on Saturday, I made some cookie dough, just to eat the dough....... Shame on me.
Are they cake doughnuts, or the light fluffy ones?
These look so delicious!! I'll have to add this to my "Recipes To Try" pile!
I have a friend that makes these all the time and loves them....I've always wondered if they were good. We'll have to give them a try sometime.
See, we haven't really tried doughnuts because I haven't found an easy recipe. This one sounds easy (and they look yummy!) but if they feel a "bit much" then I'm pretty sure I'd eat too many all by myself! ;D
