Just Like You

Just Like You, written by Marla Stewart Konrad, is an adorable picture book meant to celebrate life on every continent as it shares how special the reader is and how the reader's birth was celebrated at home.  As this book takes readers around the world, each new introduction begins with "On the day you were born, baby ___ was born in __."  They end with a variation of, "That night, all the stars of the universe sparkled through the window.  Baby __ was a beautiful baby...just like you."
Just Like You: Beautiful Babies Around the World
I really like how Marla Stewart Konrad weaves a tale that many parents can relate to as they give thanks to God for the new gift of life.  At the same time, Just Like You  lets the reader know there are children all over the world who are loved by their parents and gives a peek into other cultures and traditions while focusing on similarities.

The illustrations, by Lin Wang, are incredibly detailed and beautiful.  The story and illustrations, combined, make for an incredible picture book.  I think Just Like You would be a great gift for a child's birthday or even for a new baby.

Thank you Zonderkidz for a review copy of this book.
