Summer Plans

Last summer got away from us.  This summer won't.  We actually have our family plans on the calendar already!  Below is what we are hoping to do this summer.  Boldfaced items are plans that we already completed.

Our Family Plans:
Backyard Campfire
Strawberry picking
Dutch Wonderland (amusement park)
NYC
beach
family camp in the Poconos

To Make and Eat with the Children:
Rice Krispy Treats
Chex mix
Fruit pizza (with cookie crust)
monkey bread
Butterfly cupcakes or here (made the cake!)
Instant pudding
Ladybugs

Other Ideas:
Zoo Day at the chip factory
Hershey's free tour
VBS and/or Backyard Bible Clubs
Blueberry picking
A week in northeastern PA with family
Train Ride (just visit, no ride)
Hands-On Museum (M did with friend, but we didn't go as family)

We will do some crafts and play with friends, too.  I suspect our library trips will be more frequent, too.  Our kiddie pool and water table are still put away, but will be used soon. We're looking forward to a good summer!

(If you have any other non-stovetop ideas for creating food with kids, please share!  We already bake some together, but I'm trying to figure out some new things to make that are very hands-on, while appropriate for a 2 and 4 year old.)

Fun summer plans! After reading your listing, I am thinking that I should really write out one as well...plans floating around in my head as 'good ideas' don't get done quite as well as ones on a written list :-)

It sounds like y'all are going to have a fun summer!! I really need to make us a summer fun list. I have several things I hope to do, but a list would make sure I did them. :) I'm really hoping we can take the boys to a petting zoo, but that's probably the biggest "trip" I have planned.

We make Marshmallow Robots every summer...with big and little marshmallows, pretzels sticks, candy, etc.

Your list is great! You live near lots of great places to visit. I was thinking of planning a visit to NYC this summer, is the summer too hot to go though?

WOAH - I'm impressed that you are going with the family to NYC!

We're going to Seattle in July. Our travel plans are kinda spread out throughout the year but we're looking forward to it. Hopefully Bookworm3 will cooperate. For that matter, hopefully ALL the bookworms will cooperate!

Looks like a fun list of plans you have there!

We made fruit pizza with a whole wheat crust over the weekend. It was wonderful!

Sounds like a fun summer. Great idea to go ahead and put everything on the calender now so the summer isn't gone before you know it. I think We need to try that. We usually just kind of try and plan as we go but then as you said, the summer just gets away from you.

I should clarify...the beach is just a day trip and NYC will be a weekend visit to some family members.
