Counting Down to Christmas Part 1: Jesse Tree

This will be our third year celebrating Christmas daily in December.  I know it's still early, but you may need to prepare a bit if you are inspired to do any of these activities to count down to Christmas.  Today I'm sharing just one part of our daily celebrations with you.  More will be shared soon!

The Jesse Tree is something I hadn't heard of until a few years ago.  A Jesse Tree is a way to connect the story of the Israelites in the Old Testament with the coming of the Savior, Jesus Christ.  The name comes from Isaiah 11:1

"A shoot will come  up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a Branch will bear fruit."

Read how I created this portable Jesse Tree!

  1. What a neat idea-- celebrating Christmas daily! I love it!

    Btw, thank you for your email back to me on our other site. I really appreciate it that you took the time out of your busy schedule with a newborn (and even typed one-handed!) to do that. It was so helpful!

  3. I think it IS a good idea to start posting ideas because, like you, I think it's important to plan ahead so that you can actually DO the things you want to do!!! Trying our best around here to be prepared this year!

  4. Our Sunday School Christmas program this year revolves around the Jesse Tree idea. Looking forward to watching all the kids place the ornaments on the tree and talk about the various scriptures. Now if only I can track down The Jesse Tree book by McCaughrean.
